The Path Forward as an Author

The first book is now released! "Fates of Rebels and Men" is available on Amazon. To my amazement, the reviews have been tremendously positive!

So what's next?

Well, marketing the book, of course, takes its toll. There's lots of work promoting the book and getting it out in front of a greater audience. While I do enjoy the writing aspect, sales essentially drive the dream of making more books and cultivating a loyal list of readers who like to enjoy my stories.

That isn't to say there isn't another book being worked on.

Right now, I have about 30k words put down for a science fiction horror project I began working on while querying agents for "Fates of Rebels and Men." It sat on the back burner once I transitioned to self-publishing my debut novel, but I've begun to write some more.

There isn't necessarily a schedule to follow, more of a commitment to keep writing and see where things go with this next project. Now that I have successfully completed my first book, the premise of writing is achievable. My focus turns to creating a system where I can keep writing and pushing out new stories.

If I had to sit down and create some sort of timeline, I'd state this:

Sci-fi/horror: finish writing early 2025

2nd book of The Karajan Saga: writing throughout 2025 and into 2026

Beyond that, there's a list of ideas and projects I have that need to make it through the grindstone. Whether they are feasible for a full-blown book remains to be seen, but as we move into 2025, I'll look to see what they can bring to the table.

Ultimately, I celebrate the fact that I now actually have a book out. My dream has been achieved to a degree. I'd love to be represented by an agent and get my book published by one of the big publishing companies, hoping to find my book on the shelves of a Barnes and Noble or in one of the many airport bookstores I pass through on my travels.

The road is long, but the journey and the steps taken are enjoyed and celebrated. Onward to even greater things!
